There have been lots of news stories about how few properties are on the market this year and the crazy prices people are paying to buy a home. Generally, there is a lot of truth to that, but most of the media stories focus on the urban areas and ignore the many rural and semi-rural communities that surround Ottawa.
Here is an update on 26 of our rural and semi-rural communities.
It is a bit uneven across these rural communities. The largest price increases being in communities within easy commuting distance of downtown Ottawa. This is starting to change as more people work from home and younger families look further out for affordable housing.
These videos will give you a good idea of what is happening in these rural communities. I would suggest you look at all of them (They are roughly a minute each) and look at the number of sales (you will be surprised) and the average prices and how they compare to last year at this time (that will be another surprise).
